I have known Maria ever since I moved to San Diego six years ago. I was so happy when she and Phil were engaged and even happier when they chose me to document their wedding story! Maria and Phil met during a doggy play date so they new they wanted to incorporate their pups in the shoot and of course I was excited about that! We started the shoot at their home in Ocean Beach and even climbed out on the roof to get some beautiful light! Love how adventurous these two were!
Anyone who knows my shooting style knows I love a good graffiti wall. I love when I get a message from a friend saying “I saw an abandoned building/ amazing wall of graffiti/ run down warehouse and thought you would love it for a photo location!” I get a special pitter patter when I drive past a half fallen down building with the windows all broken out and evidence that it had been on fire at some point. I love finding a run down or weird location where the couple is like seriously? You want me to stand in front of that? Yes! The crappier it looks in person the better you will look in front of it. Not to say Ocean Beach looks like it’s burning to the ground but there are some amazing gems around every turn! Oh.. sorry… back to Maria + Phil!
So we walked around Ocean Beach because not only is this where Phil has lived for the last 17 years and where their home is, but also because there are so many funky nooks and beautiful spots! I had so much fun with them just walking around, catching up, and snapping some hilarious shots of these two love birds. I mean do they not look like the happiest couple together or what! Eat your heart out! Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day. Enjoy!
