I get excited every time I hear from the Joslins to do more family portraits.  It has been a blessing to be able to watch their family grow.  I met their newest addition, Emma, in their home only 5 days after she was born!  I approach newborn portraits completely different than how others might.  I used to think that when doing newborn portraits you had to break out the bean bag and cute hats and things, but I couldn’t get myself to do it.  I’ve never been a cutesy photographer so why change?  I wanted to show the Joslins in their home, just loving their new baby girl.  Don’t get me wrong, a baby perched on it’s hands passed out with a little elf hat will melt my heart every time, but I chose to approach this shoot with the same documentary style that I use in my other shoots.  Emma was less than thrilled to have her portrait taken but with lots of patience we captured some amazing moments (and that tutu is pretty darn cute!).  Here are my favorite shots from the day.  Enjoy!
